Anthony C. Limón has taught music in public schools in the Metro Denver area for over eight years. His experience includes coaching a high school string quintet, teaching introductory guitar, conducting percussion ensembles and vocal choirs, as well as teaching elementary general music. He now conducts middle school band & orchestra and teaches music appreciation in Aurora, and channels his passion for music and working with students of all ages into teaching private lessons. A native of the Front Range in Colorado, Mr. Limón graduated summa cum laude from the Metropolitan State University of Denver with a bachelor's degree in Music Education. He received his first bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder—a B.F.A. in Film Studies—where his collegiate music training began in the College of Music.
A versatile vocalist and instrumentalist, Mr. Limón has studied and performed music from diverse styles and eras including classical, jazz, rock, pop, musicals, opera, folk, and latin in varying ensembles and environments. His training began in the Suzuki Method on piano at six years of age. He started lessons on the violin in middle school under his stepmother Catherine Limón, then Concertmaster of the Longmont Symphony Orchestra. In high school, he was the founding Concertmaster of the Longmont Youth Symphony, and was selected to participate in All State Orchestra and UNC Weekend for Strings. Mr. Limón discovered singing as a junior, and was selected to participate in All State Choir as a senior. During his time at Metro State, he studied vocal technique and pedagogy under Dr. MeeAe Nam, began playing the viola, and performed as viola section leader with the Metro State Symphony Orchestra and in the select string quartet.
Mr. Limón strives to build a strong foundation for beginners and to promote next-level growth for experienced students by blending the fundamentals of technique and music theory with the flexibility of modern styles. He is dedicated to helping students of all ages experience success in making music in a nurturing environment.
